Save the date :: Keepin' it Current :: St Joseph County :: November 5th

The Treatment Committee of The Drug Free Community Council of Healthy Communities Initiative invites you to join them at their 6th annual conference for treatement and prevention professionals on Friday, November 5th from 8am until 4pm in South Bend, Indiana.

The conference will feature Ethan Nadelmann, the founder and executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance. The Drug Policy Alliance is the leading organization in the United States advocating for drug policies grounded in science, compassion, health, and human rights. Ethan's talk is titled, "America's Failed Drug Policies". Nadelmann will discuss possibilities for drug control policy focused on "harm reduction" - a pragmatic and ethical approach that seeks to reduce the harms of both drug use and drug prohibition, acknowledging that both are likely to persist for the foreseeable future. In evaluating whether particular policies and interventions are successful or not, the most important criteria is reductions in the death, disease, crime and suffering associated with both drug use and our prohibitionist policies.

The cost for this conference is $50 ($25 for students) and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Six CEU's are available for those who need them. Early registration ends October 22nd. It is highly recommended that you register early.
